LAWRENCEVILLE - Tommy Johnson, Residency Administrator, South Hill Residency, Virginia Department of Transportation, presented the monthly report to the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors at the meeting held June 15. 2022.

Whitehurst Construction - 2022 surface treatment contractor has completed the paving work and pavement marking to follow.  

VDOT forces have begun first cycle of Primary mowing is 80%, scheduled to be completed by end of this week. Contractors have begun the first cycle of secondary mowing and litter pickup, 50% complete. 

Rural Rustic Update- 2 projects under construction this year: Route 744, Windmill Hill Drive and Route 737, Spring House Place. 

Route 609, Cut Bank Road Bridge over the Nottoway River was scheduled to be completed in May of this year. However the contractor has encountered drilled shaft and high strength bolt issues that have delayed the project. Scheduled for completion this summer. 

Route 1 Bridge repairs over the CSX RR- work is ongoing with a permanent left lane closure. Substructure concrete repair is underway. 

Route 46 Bridge rehab over Nottoway River. Construction is expected to start mid-to-late July. A more exact time will be announced in the coming weeks. The project has an expected completion date of summer 2023. The detour for this project will use Route 40 and Route 137 through Kenbridge, to the west of the project site. The contractor for this project is W. C. English, Inc. of Lynchburg.  The total bid for construction was $7.6 million.
